Membership Categories and Dues Structure

Membership Dues are per FTBA’s Fiscal Year July 1–June 30
Membership dues may not be deducted as charitable contributions; however, a portion of such dues may be deducted as ordinary and necessary business expenses.

Dues for Contractor and Associate membership are pro-rated quarterly. A pro-rated price is not offered for Affiliate level membership. Please see below:

Contractor Member Information
Includes all prime and subcontractors.

Annual membership dues are $2,400 per fiscal year.

Contractor members are also subject to percentage dues of any contractor subcontract awarded by FDOT, Airport or Expressway work, and is calculated as follows. The first $25 million of total work is billed at 1/10th of 1% with the exception of the first $2.4 million of total work is exempt from such calculations. Total work over $25 million will be billed at 1/100th of 1%. The total annual dues are capped at $50,000. Contracts of hand or awaiting award at the time of joining are not included in the calculations.
Associate Member Information
Includes all prime and subcontractors.

Annual membership dues are $3,000 per fiscal year.

Includes equipment dealers, material suppliers, engineering firms and design consultants. Material is defined as any item used in the actual construction of a project. Any other firm or individual with an interest in the transportation industry, except prime contractors and subs, are included in the associate member category.
Affiliate Member Information
Includes all prime and subcontractors.

Annual membership dues are $1,000 per fiscal year.

If you do not fall into either of the above categories, but have an interest in providing goods and services not utilized in the actual construction of a project, to those in the industry you would be an affiliate member. Affiliate memberships apply to attorneys, CPA’s, insurance agents, bonding firms and individual claims consultants.
FTBA operates on a fiscal year of July 1 – June 30.

All memberships are renewed automatically on July 1st. Members who cancel membership and later seek to reinstate must pay the prior year’s outstanding dues in full before reinstatement can be approved.

This policy ensures continuity of membership benefits and fairness to all active members.

Contractor FTBA members are at the forefront of industry decisions:

FTBA represents its members with one collective voice before the Executive Office of the Governor, the Florida Legislature, and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). FTBA works with various agencies, including the Federal Highway Administration, as well as the Expressway and Airport Authorities, and Local Governments to keep them informed of the needs and concerns of the transportation construction industry.

FTBA Members are encouraged to participate on the following technical committees which meet regularly with FDOT representatives to address specifications and contract issues:
  • The Specifications Committee
  • The Structures Committee
  • The L.E.S.S. Subcommittee ( Lighting, Electrical, Signing and Signalization)
  • The M.O.T. Subcommittee ( Maintenance of Traffic)
  • The Safety Committee
  • The EEO/Compliance Committee
  • The Small Business Committee
FTBA hosts the Annual Construction Symposium along with FDOT and invites FTBA members to attend and discuss industry issues of concern.

FTBA members are connected nationally, as well as statewide:

FTBA is affiliated with the national American Road and Transportation Builders’ Association (ARTBA), cooperating with it and other organizations to ensure a comprehensive and efficient transportation program. Every FTBA contractor member is also a member of ARTBA.

FTBA maintains liaisons with the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), the Southeastern Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (SASHTO), The Road Information Program (TRIP), Floridians for Better Transportation (FBT) and others with transportation construction interests.

FTBA members and their employees are informed and supported:

FTBA members are invited to attend FTBA’s Annual Convention to network with other industry leaders and participate in educational seminars and social activities. FTBA distributes awards of distinction at the convention and only FTBA members are eligible.

Each FTBA member receives complimentary Florida Transportation Industry Directories. This directory is published annually and is widely distributed among those connected or interested in our industry. You can join FTBA online or fill out the paper membership application and mail along with your check to the address as indicated on the form.
